...I believe intervals are fortuitous encounters of different voices. When similar phrases are repeated, each note meets others and then subtly coloured timbres and indescribable nuances arise. Whenever it happens I want to capture these moments. Therefore this composition can be thought of as the accumulation of such moments. ...

渋谷由香
Yuka Shibuya

1981年京都生まれ。東京藝術大学大学院修士課程修了。非平均律による微分音程を用いた作品を多数作曲。現在同大学院後期博士課程に在籍。学位論文は「音楽的資源としての微分音程の使用法について―現代作曲技法の可能性として」。現代音楽を中心に様々な演奏やイヴェントを行う『FLAT』を企画・活動。第19回京都芸術祭新人賞受賞。

Born in Kyoto in 1981, Yuka Shibuya graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts with a masters degree. In recent years, she has been interested in exploring the relationships between individual tones, writing many pieces utilising microtonal intervals and unequal temperament. She is currently a PhD candidate at Tokyo University of the Arts, where she wrote her dissertation 'The Usage of Microtones as Musical Material--Contemporary Music-Making Possibilities' last fall. With Hideaki Haginomori, she is active as an organizer of the contemporary music group FLAT. Shibuya was a recipient of the 19th Kyoto Newcomer Award.

Clinamen

「クリナメン」とは、エピキュロの唱えた物質の生成運動論、ルクレティウスにおいては「斜めに逸れていく・偏奇する原子」意味する。「定まった軌道に反し、抵抗するという原子たちの振る舞いと衝突」をイメージした。...

Clinamen is Lucretius' name for the Epicurean theory of atomic movement. In Lucretius' definition, clinamen describes the natural, unpredictable swerving of atoms.In this piece, I try to capture the behavior of atoms that resist obeying regular orbits. Both the flute and piano parts develop by drawing different orbits with complicated fingerings, extreme usage of extended techniques, and tough-but-resonant sounds....

山本和智
Kazutomo Yamamoto

1975年生まれ。作曲は独学。2006年モリナーリ国際作曲賞 (カナダ ) 1位、2007年AIC/Mostly Modern国際作曲賞 (アイルランド) 1位、2009年度武満徹作曲賞2位、2010年第５回JFC作曲賞、2011年第６回ユルゲンソン国際作曲賞 (ロシア) ２位など受賞多数。作品は日本をはじめ世界各国で演奏されている。

Born in 1975, Kazutomo Yamamoto is a self-taught composer. He has received numerous prizes, including the Molinari Quartet's International Composition Competition (2006, 1st prize), AIC/Mostly Modern International Composition (2007, 1st prize), Toru Takemitsu Composition Award (2009, judge: Helmut Lachenmann, 2nd prize), The 5th JFC Composition Award (2010, judge: Jo Kondo, 1st prize) and the 6th International Jurgenson Competition for Young Composers (2011, 2nd prize). Yamamoto's music has been performed in Japan, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, the United States, and Russia.
